1st ODI: Pak v. WI: Pakistan wins the Thriller

With the last over requiring 17 runs, Alam and Kamal played Taylor like a tennis ball bowler and scored the required runs to take Pakistan. Alam took single of the first ball. Kamran Akmal hit six of the 2nd and 3rd ball. The target changed to 4 runs off 3 balls.

Kamal scored 3 runs of the 4th ball. The ball was hit to deep midwicket where the fielder dived and saved the boundary. But poor throw cost one more run. Two balls 1 run and it was scored easily by Alam.

Earlier, in the last 3 overs, Pakistan needed 33 runs. Taylor gave 10 runs including a six of the last ball and picked the wicket of Shoaib Malik. Gayle bowled a superb 49th over giving away just 6 runs.

Akmal hit hat-trick sixes of Taylor's bowling. He hit a six off the last ball of 48th over and then hit two sixes off the first two balls he faced in the 50th over.

Earlier, in West Indian batting, Gayle came back to form with a wonderful century. His 100th run came off 90 balls with 10 fours and 5 sixes. He got out for 113 in 106 balls with 11 fours and 5 sixes in the last ball of the 35th over.

Sarwan scored 55 and the top order consisting of Chattergoon (33), Chanderpaul (36), and Marshall (26) helped WI to put a good total on the board.

For Pakistan top scorers were Manzoor (69), Younis Khan (56), and skipper Shoaib Malik (66).
