Tendulkar Rested for First 3 ODIs against England!
Tendulkar, the master batsman, record holder of highest run scorer in ODI and Test Cricket has been rested for the first three ODIs against England starting November 14, 2008. The BCCI said that the decision was taken keeping in mind the request from Sachin.
His last appearance in ODI was in the CB Series Final against Australia in April 2008. He was the man who gave the cup to India through his unbeaten century in the first final and followed by 90 plus runs in the second final. Though it was a team work, majority of the appreciation should go to him for the way he batted and lead the youngsters like Rohit Sharma.
Due to groin injury, he could not play in the Asia Cup and also the Kitply Cup played in Sri Lanka.
Tendulkar had requested that he be rested, citing the heavy workload as the reason, and the selectors kept that in mind when they met in Nagpur on Wednesday evening to pick the team.
Everyone hopes that he will be back in action from the 4th ODI.

Prasad and Robin Singh Stay!
The bowling coach and the fielding coach of the Indian Cricket Team has been retained for the forthcoming series against South Africa. It was said that the BCCI was not happy with them because they have signed IPL teams as coaches without consent from BCCI.
Venkatesh Prasad was retained after the improved performance in the bowling department during the down under series against Australia. He was signed by Vijay Mallya's Bangalore team and Robin Singh was signed by Hyderabad's team.
The speculation was that the new coach Gary Kirsten wanted his own men to support the Indian team in all the departments and BCCI was supporting the new coach. The post of the interim coach Lalchand Rajput is also under danger. It may be noted that this series of India against South Africa in India is the first official series for Gary Kisten as coach.
The official news is that, both Venkatesh Prasad and Robin Singh stay as bowling and fielding coach respectively.

Indian Team Announced for 1st and 2nd Test against SA!
The Indian team for the first and second test against South Africa has been announced today by the selection committee. No big surprises in the composition of the team. Kumble is still the skipper and as expected, the three giants VVS Laxman, Ganguly, and Dravid are back in the team. It was learnt from the press that there was debate about including Wassim Jaffer becuase of his poor show in the Down Under series in Australia. Finally, he got added to the team and he should be a relieved man.
Yuvaraj, though did not perform well in the tests, he was given chance again to show is calibre. This is going to be a challenge for him to prove himself as a capable player in all three forms of the game--Test, ODI and 20-20.
Dinesh Karthik is a reserve player and as a light chance of getting into the first test in case if Dhoni is not fit. Murali Karthik was included in the squad, but his injury during Deodhar trophy needed few weeks of rest. So, Piyush Chawla who was a reserve player got the chance of getting into the squad. The squad includes three fast and 2 spin bowlers.
Ishanth is ruled out of the first test because of his toe injury. Let us hope he get backs to normalcy soon!
