Sourav Ganguly was named on the BCCI's technical committee, which plays a significant role in deciding all cricketing matters.
The new 10-member tehnical committee headed by Sunil Gavaskar--which includes 5 representatives from all zones, the chairman of selectors, a former Test cricketer, a former umpire and the secretary of the board--was nnounced in September after the BCCI AGM in Mumbai.
The former Test cricketer post was vacant for sometime and recently filled in by Ganguly.
