5th ODI: Ind v. Aus: Tendulkar Heroism in Vain, Australia go up 3-2!

Sachin scored 45th ODI hundred in Hyderbad against Australia
What an innings by Sachin? Everyone thought that he India would create a record by chasing 351. The match was in the hands of India until the little master got out for 175.

Though India lost Sehwag for 38 when India was 66 in the 9th over. Gambhir and Yuvaraj could not do much as they were dismissed for 8 and 9 respectively. Dhoni also returned to pavilion for 6. India were 162 for 4 in 23.3 overs.

It was Sachin and Raina who built the middle portion of the Indian innings. They added 137 for the 5th wicket in 114 balls. Sachin reached his 45th ODI ton and he ensured that his strike rate is always above 100.

Raina's poor shot selection gave the first break through for Australia. He mistimed the pull which went in the air which was grabbed by wicket keeper Manou with little difficulty. Harbhajan was caught behind trying to steer to third man for a duck.

Sachin trying to play over short fine leg, lobbed an easy catch to Hauritz. Sure that he was disappointed with the way he got out but most distressing fact was that that shot ended the Indian hopes of winning the match.

Jadeja need to learn running between the wickets. With the only dependable batsmen in the crease, he ran for a single where there was none. Before he could return, everything was over and second continuous run for him.

Nehra could have played little sensibly. He hit it in the air straight to mid on. With last wicket in hand, Praveen Kumar hit a six in the penultimate over.

Praveen Kumar could not come back on time for the 2nd run and he was just short by few millimeters. India lost by 3 runs.

Earlier, Shaun Marsh made a wonderful century which helped Australia to put 350 on the board. White and Hussye contributed with quick runs at the end and they utilized the batting powerplay very well in which they scored 44.

India has to win the next match to stay in the series.
