Sachin Tendulkar did not play in this game as he had food poisoning and fainted in his hotel room.
Gambhir and Dravid lost their wickets early for 6 and 4 respectively. With 12 on the board, India lost 2 wickets. Dinesh Karthick and Kohli played sensibly and took India beyond 100. They both added 92 runs for the third wicket with Kohli scoring half-century. Kohli remained unbeaten on 79 with 9 fours and 2 sixes. He also won the man of the match for his match winning knock.
In the process, Dhoni picked his first ODI wicket. He bowled couple of overs and in his first, 4th ball, Dowlin dragged the ball to the stumps and gave Dhoni his first ODI wicket.
In the first semi-final, Australia will play against England and in the 2nd Semi Final, Pakistan will play against New Zealand.
