New Zealand is touring Bangladesh that started with the ODI series. The first ODI was played in Mirpur. With the Bangladesh cricket board banning some of its players becuase they entered Indian Cricket League, added new players to the national squad.
In the short scored match, Bangladesh won by 7 wickets with 4.5 overs remaining. Losing the first 6 wickets for 79 runs, New Zealand never was back in the game except for a 70-run partnership for the 7th wicket between Oram and Vettori.
Mortaza picked the first two wickets and then the fourth wicket. Abdur Razzak picked 3 wickets.
Though Tamim Iqbal was dismissed early for 12, Siddique and Rahim added 67 for the 2nd wicket and ensured the team sail in the winning path. Siddique and skipper Ashraful put on 109 runs for the 3rd wicket and lead Bangladesh to victory. Siddique scored 85 and bagged the man of the match award, while Ashraful was unbeaten on 60.
