3rd Test: Ind v. Aus: Day 2: Two Double Hundreds Put India on Top!
India is almost sure not to lose the series! Gambhir and Laxman scored double hundred and put India on top with 613 on board. Kumble declared after Laxman scored his second double hundred against Austrlia. It was a composed innings by both Gambhir and Laxman.
When most of the Indians were debating about including Laxman in the third test, the timing of his double hundred has been good for him and also the country. In a dead wicket like this--with no spin and pace and bounce, the batsmen utilized the opportunity provided to them.
The Australian bowling attack could not do anything including the cheap tactic--the usual sledging. It only lead to couple of incidents involving Gambhir--with Katich and Watson.
Gambhir scored 206 and was bowled by Watson through an inner edge. He consumed 380 balls and hit 26 fours and a six. Laxman on the other hand was not out on 200 which came off 301 balls with 21 fours.
Ganguly and Dhoni threw their wicket trying to add quick runs to the scoreboard. Kumble added 45 to his score while Zaheer scored some quick runs. He added 28 in 21 balls with 5 fours.
Kumble declared with 613 on the board and forced Australia to bat 15 overs in the remaining day. Hayden and Katich played safely as they finished the day with 50 for no loss.
