The Champions Trophy is likely to happen next year as the dates for the tournament was announced by the ICC. The CT is played every year as a mini world cup and this year it was cancelled citing security reasons.
Australia, New Zealand, England and South Africa threatened to pull out of the tournament if conducted in Pakistan. Few bomb blasts in the venue country created panic in the member countries and the major cricketing nations decided to withdraw from participating in the tournament.
ICC bowed to their demands and cancelled the tournament for this year though they had the option of changing the venue. They have decided to conduct the event next year in the same venue between September 24 and October 5, 2009.
This would impact the Champions League and the subsequent ODI Series between India and Australia to be played in India. BCCI has decided to postpone the dates of these events by two weeks each.
