2nd Test: Ind v. Aus: Day 2: Ganguly scores century! Australia Struggling at 104 for 4

Resuming the day 2 from 311 for 5, Ganguly scored his 16th test hundred with a boundary of White. Ishanth was dismissed in the morning for 9. Dhoni and Ganguly played a responsibile innings and helped India put a good total on the board. They added 109 runs for the 7th wicket.

Ganguly scored his 2nd century against Australia and finally got out to White. He came down the track and the ball was pitched away from off stump which he tried to slog it over long off, but ended up hitting it high in the air and was caught at mid-off. He scored 102 off 225 balls with 5 boundaries. He should be a happy man that he is in good form, but will be saddening too because this is his last international series.

Dhoni missed his century by 8 runs and he should blame himself for that. Harbhajan was bowled by a wrong one. Dhoni took unnecessary single forcing Zaheer to run a risky single. Zaheer batted well in the Bangalore test. Dhoni should have trusted him, but he didn't. He played the ball to mid on and started for a single. The bowler White was standing on the way forcing Zaheer to go around him. Going around the bowler to reach the crease on time in a quick single is suicidal and Zaheer was not an exception.

In the next over though easy singles could have been taken on many occassions, Dhoni didn't do it. Last ball of the over, the ball hit his boot on full and was given LBW.

Dhoni scored 92 off 124 balls with 8 fours 4 huge sixes--two sixes each of Siddle and White. Amit Mishra did not get a chance to bat in his debut test. Siddle picked 3 wickets in his debut match. Johnson also picked 3 wickets.

Starting the innings before tea, Zaheer struck in the first over third ball one more time. He picked Hayden in the 3rd ball of the first over of the match at Bangalore. This time, he brought the ball in which clipped the pad, bat and hit the middle stump.

Ishanth Sharma had his man--Ricky Ponting plumb in front of the wicket. The ball nipped back, pushing him backward and hit him on the pads. Katich and Hussey played well, took the score from 17 for 2 to 62.

Amit Mishra picked his first international test wicket by bowling Katch. The ball hit the bat, crease and went back to stumps. He scored 33. Michael Clarke joined Hussey and played some good shots. Dhoni dropped a little diffuclt chance to Hussey of Harbhajan.

Once again, Michael Clarke got out in the last over. Changing the angle to round the wicket, Mishra bowled straight on the stumps which hit him on the pads and the bat was not behind the pads. Mishra picked his 2nd wicket.

Australia ended the day at 104 for 4 trailing India's score of 469.
