In a match that looked like one-sided, the Kiwis managed to land in the semi-final beting England. In a do-or-die encounter for NZ, they had to beat England or if they lose, they had to be better on the run rate compared to Sri Lanka.
Deciding to field first, the Kiwis were on target from the word "Play" called by the umpire. Strauss was caught behind in the 2nd ball of the match of an unexpected bounce which took the edge on the way to McCullum.
Denly was bowled of a low kept delivery from Bond. The player of the match in the previous match, Shah also could not make runs in this match. He was caught behind off Bond for 3.
Collingwood (40) and Morgan (9) put a 37 runs partnership for the 4th wicket and took England to 50 for 4 in 18.2 overs. This was the highest partnership in this match for England.
Bopara made 30 while Sidebottom scored 20. Collingwood was the top scorer with 40 in 58 balls with 2 fours and 3 sixes.
Elliott picked 4 wickets and Bond had 3 for his account.

Match 3: NZ v. SA
Match 7: NZ v. SL
Chasing a small total, seems always easy but with a must-win situation, it is always difficult. The team won't know whether to take time and play or to be aggressive. In both the approaches, if the team losses wicket, then they are under pressure.
McCullum and Guptill did not make that mistake. They started aggressively and did not allow the bowlers to dominate them. McCullum was more aggressive as his 48 came in 39 balls with 4 fours and 3 sixes.
Guptill crossed half-century and was involved in 84 runs partnership with McCullum in just 12.3 overs. His 53 came in 55 balls which had 7 fours and a six.
