Shocking news for Indian and Yuvaraj fans! The hard-hitting all rounder and a good fielder, Yuvaraj Singh, is out of the Champions Trophy. This is a big blow for the Indian team as he is one of the successful middle order batsmen who could turn the game single-handedly.
"Yuvraj has fractured a finger in his right hand and has been ruled out for six weeks," the Indian cricket board (BCCI) said in a statement. He has been replaced by Virat Kohli and the formalities are getting completed to make him join the team as soon as possible.
India, one of the favourites to win the eight-team tournament, have already lost opening batsman Virender Sehwag due to shoulder injury and pace bowler Zaheer Khan to injury. There are fitness concerns about opener Gautam Gambhir, who has a groin strain.
The players have to be careful during the nets and other practice sessions. Even a small mistake can put a question in their career.
Gautam Gambhir has been named vice-captain of the Indian team.
