Paine, the replacement for injured Haddin and Ponting handled the bowling well. They added 85 for the 2nd wicket in 114 balls. None of the middle order batsmen floruished. M Hussey scored 6, Ferguson was bowled by Roach for 20. White and Hopes contributed just 4 and 5 respectively.
When Johnson came to bat, Australia were 171 for 7 in 39.2 overs. He had nothing to lose as the top batsmen were already back in the pavilion. He took charge and smashed the bowlers. He already did the same against in the Test against India in Perth. He did the same and successful in giving Australia a good score on the board.
His unbeaten 73 came in 47 balls which had 8 fours and 3 sixes. Johnson and Brett Lee added 70 runs for the 8th wicket in just 52 balls. Lee contributed 25 to the total.
Roach looked dangerous in the bowling ended with 2 for 73 in 10. Bernad and Miller picked 2 wickets each.
Nobody expected WI to chase such a target, especially against a team like Australia. The first wicket added 38 before Smith was caught for 17. Fletcher and Dowlin 86 to the 2nd wicket and both of them crossed half-centuries.
At the end of 44 overs, WI were 215 for 5 needing 61 in 6 overs. The tight bowling and inexperienced batting favored the result in favor of Australia. If it're other team, a tight finish could have been expected but WI ended with 225 in 46.5 overs with Richards chose not to bat.
