CT 09: Match 2: Pak v. WI: Pak Crush New WI Players! Tonge's Fight in Vain!

Pakistan crushed the inexperienced West Indian side by 5 wickets and with nearly 20 overs to spare. WI had two positives though they lost the match--a half-century (51) by batsman number 9, Miller; Tonge, the fast bowler picked 4 of the wickets that fell. He also bowled 3 maiden overs in his 10 over spell, giving 25 runs. Other than these two players, none of the West Indians could manage to cross double digit except Sammy (25) and Dwyne Smith (18).

Mohammed Aamer and Umar Gul picked 3 wickets. The stand-in skipper Afridi and Naved-ul-Hasan picked a wicket each while Saeed Ajmal picked 2. The tight bowling bundled West Indies for 133 in the 35th over.

Chasing an easy target, Pakistan would have hoped a solid and comfortable finish. But they lost both the openers to Tonge with just 21 on the board. Shoaib Malik and Mohammad Yousuf steadied the innings for sometime both were dimissed by Tonge again.

Pakistan were in trouble when Misbah was also dismissed with just 76 on the board. Couple of more wickets would have put them in deep trouble. Sensible batting by Umar Akmal and captain Afridi brought them back to the match and gave them the crucial 2 points.

The injury of Umar Akmal in his right hand is a cause of concern for Pakistan. When he tried to avoid a straight bouncer, he got hit in his glove. He was treated immediately and he carried on with the batting. His unbeaten 41 won him the man of the match!
